Breathing Space, as a small local charity, is funded by a mix of direct giving, grants from other charities and private organisations and funding from local and central government. We have been fortunate in the past to benefit from a large grant from the lottery, but as that has now come to an end we are working very hard to secure funding to heavily subsidise our activities. In the past year (as of July 2026) we are or have recently been supported by the following:
Between June 2025 and June 2026 we made applications to 27 different funders. This time consuming process yielded the funds above, and enables us to continue to offer heavily subsidised services, however we are not currently able to offer across the board free places to everything. Instead, in July 2026 we made the decision to charge a small fee for our services to help us to keep running in the current nationwide charity funding crisis. We will always subsidise as much as possible, and retain some free places on each service for those who need our support. In addition, we now accept general donations only, as opposed to ringfenced donations as we previously did, in order that we can use our funds to their fullest effect, and offer support to those who need it most. Grants received will be used only for the service or purpose the grant giver dictates. All small donations given in general, or in exchange for services, will be used solely to further our charitable aims of improving the health and wellbeing of our community. Please note, grants and donations to Breathing Space are seperate from church funds. Whilst we are based in the church and kindly supported by members of the congregation, we receive no funding from the church, and now pay a fee annually to rent the office and contribute to cleaning costs and refreshments. If you would like to support Breathing Space directly, please get in touch via ourcontactpage or use ourLocal Givingpage to give aone off donationor togive regularly.
