When will I be seen?
We do our best to keep our waiting list short, but we’re not able to guarantee a wait time. If you’d like to know more about how long our current waiting time is please contact us.
How much will it cost?
This service is funded by the National Lottery, and there is no cost to you. Donations are not necessary, but are of course always welcome, and can be made online at https://localgiving.org/charity/breathingspace. If you’d like to find an alternative way of donating please contact us.
Which counsellor will I see?
We have four counsellors, one female and three male. All are fully qualified and registered and all have been dbs checked. Whoever has space to see you first will contact you to arrange a start date, we cannot tell you in advance who that will be. If you have any requests regarding which counsellor you’d like, do feel free to ask, we will do our best to accommodate requests, though we cannot guarantee it.
What if I don’t get on with the counsellor?
Sometimes we just don’t gel with someone and the relationship you have with your counsellor is no different. If you feel you’re not getting on well with your counsellor please contact us and we’ll do our best to help. It’s no reflection on yourself or your counsellor if this happens, people are all different.
How long are the sessions?
You will be offered 8 sessions. They will be offered weekly, at the same time and day each week for 8 consecutive weeks.
What if I can’t attend?
If you know you’re unable to attend a session please speak to your counsellor as soon as possible. Wherever possible you will be given an additional session at the end of your 8 weeks. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, or with no notice at all, you will not be offered an extra session to compensate.

How can I help?
If you have received counselling from our service the best way you can help is to complete our feedback form. This will help us to improve and review the service, inform the funders, and also it will help us enormously when we apply for funding to continue the service. Our feedback form is here.
